When Should You Start Taking Baby Love™?

Prenatal vitamins offer crucial vitamins and minerals for expecting mothers, so it’s no surprise that there are a lot of questions about taking them properly. To get the low-down on our new prenatal vitamin Baby Love, we spoke with board-certified OB/GYN and Chief Wellness Advisor for Love Wellness Dr. Jodie Horton for advice on what time to take your daily dose, when to start, and more. Keep reading for answers to our most commonly-asked questions.

According to Dr. Jodie, “It would be best if you started taking prenatal vitamins 2-3 months before getting pregnant.” This will help you get the maximum benefit from the prenatal during the entirety of your pregnancy. “Taking the biological active form of folate called  5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) decreases the risk of the most preventable birth defect that affects the brain and spine.”

Starting Baby Love as early as possible will also help with unpleasant symptoms that are common in the first trimester, like morning sickness. Dr. Jodie says, “Baby Love is unique because it provides vitamins and minerals for a healthy baby and has nutraceuticals that help with common discomforts women experience during her pregnancy.”

What time of day should you take Baby Love

According to Dr. Jodie, the time of day you take your prenatal vitamin is ultimately up to you and your schedule. "There is no specific time when you should take a prenatal vitamin,” she explains. “Some women prefer to take their vitamins in the morning, and some take it in the evening. If you have a sensitive stomach, I recommend taking it after a meal or before bedtime.”

The only must? Consistency. “The most important thing is to take them at the same time every day. Establishing a routine will help form a healthy habit and get the most from your prenatal vitamin,” says Dr. Jodie.

How long should you continue taking Baby Love after pregnancy?

“I recommend continuing Baby Love as long as you are breastfeeding or pumping because infants get all their nutrients from their mothers during this period,” explains Dr. Jodie. “Even if you are not breastfeeding, you should maintain your vitamin routine. Baby Love will give you that extra support your body needs to get back into balance.”

Overall, it’s important to remember that each pregnancy is different. Speak with your OBGYN or midwife for specific recommendations regarding prenatal vitamins. Here’s to a happy, healthy pregnancy!
